U.S. Treasury bonds, issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, are considered among the most reliable and liquid instruments in the global financial market.

On Friday, the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries (US 10y) is trading near 4.9%.

The yield on U.S. government debt varies depending on the maturity date: 1-2 year bills, 10-year and 30-year bonds.

As of the end of 2026, the U.S. national debt stood at approximately $40 trillion. It consists of two parts: internal (debt owed to government entities, such as pension funds) and public (obligations through securities).

The debt-to-GDP ratio is nearly 125%.

It is worth noting that the U.S. budget is consistently in deficit, so the debt is likely to continue growing. The Congressional Budget Office forecasts that by 2047, the U.S. national debt will exceed 200% of GDP.
