Russian Investors Buy Record Amounts of OFZs and Corporate Bonds in 2025

In 2025, retail investors in Russia actively poured money into the bond market, which delivered one of the highest returns over the past year, according to the Central Bank.
Russians purchased record amounts of OFZ (Russian government bonds) and corporate bonds worth 490 billion rubles and 1.26 trillion rubles respectively. For comparison, in 2024, these figures stood at 196 billion rubles and 551 billion rubles respectively.
In addition to bonds, gold, ruble-denominated deposits, and money market funds were among the top performers last year. Foreign currency cryptocurrencies and deposits showed the lowest returns.
Retail investors were the largest buyers of equities on the secondary market in 2025, with net purchases reaching 142 billion rubles. They also bought foreign currency worth 1.12 trillion rubles.
