Bankruptcies in Russia Total 1.57 Trillion Rubles in Debts

By the end of 2025, the total debt of individuals, legal entities, and individual entrepreneurs (IP) in completed bankruptcy cases amounted to 1.5 trillion rubles, according to statistics from the Judicial Department of the Russian Supreme Court, as reported by Interfax.

Compared to 2024, the overall debt of bankrupt entities decreased by 2.62%. In 2024, it stood at 1.6 trillion rubles, and in 2023, it was 4.5 trillion rubles.

The debt of bankrupt legal entities in completed procedures in 2025 totaled 865.5 billion rubles, a decrease of 17.7% from the previous year when it stood at 1.05 trillion rubles. Russian courts declared approximately 6,300 organizations bankrupt in 2025, which is a quarter less than in 2024.

Among individuals and individual entrepreneurs, the number of bankruptcies increased by nearly one-third year-on-year in 2025. A total of 561,700 individuals and 3,300 individual entrepreneurs were declared bankrupt, compared to 425,100 individuals and 2,500 individual entrepreneurs in the previous year. The total debt of individuals in completed procedures reached 662.6 billion rubles (512.37 billion rubles in the previous year), while that of individual entrepreneurs was 15.5 billion rubles (14.9 billion rubles).
