The Russian government will allocate approximately 4 billion rubles ($46 million) to 10 regions to compensate for expenses related to wildfire suppression. The funds will be distributed to federal subjects where work was carried out to extinguish natural fires in spring and summer 2026.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed officials to continue closely monitoring the situation in forests to promptly identify threats and prevent the spread of fires.

To enhance monitoring and rapid response, Russia has implemented a unified digital forest registry. This system gathers information about forest areas, enabling continuous observation of conditions and, if necessary, the deployment of additional personnel and equipment for fire reconnaissance and suppression.

The allocation of funds will help regions offset some of the costs incurred during firefighting operations.
