Emergency Situation Declared in Yaroslavl Region Following Fire at Firecracker Warehouse

An emergency situation has been declared in Pereslavl-Zalessky district of Yaroslavl region, according to regional governor Mikhail Yevraev.

Firefighters have currently contained the open flames and are flooding the building. A total of 200 personnel and 23 units of equipment are involved in the firefighting efforts.

On-site, a commission including representatives from the regional government, Investigative Committee (SK), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), and Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) is working. An operational headquarters has been established.

Due to the fire, most of the village has been left without electricity. Generators will be used to restore power to social facilities. Emergency crews will work on restoring the power supply.

According to Yevraev, temporary accommodation centers have been set up at clinics in Kubrinsk and Nagorye, but no requests for accommodation have been received so far. Psychologists are working with the families of the deceased. All necessary assistance is being provided to the victims.

• The fire at a fireworks warehouse occurred on September 29. Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of the fire was a short circuit in an electric kettle. The fire spread to fireworks stored on the premises. As a result of the fire, 14 people died and one was injured. A criminal investigation has been launched. September 30 has been declared a day of mourning in Yaroslavl region.
