### U.S. and China Reach Agreement to Reduce Tariffs on $30 Billion Worth of Goods U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have reached an agreement to lower import tariffs on approximately $30 billion worth of goods following negotiations. Washington will reduce tariffs on various categories of Chinese imports, including household goods, sports equipment, toys, and fireworks. In return, China will lower tariffs on specific American products, such as meat and seafood, dairy products, grains, coal, timber, and medical equipment. For about 90% of the goods on the agreed list, tariffs are expected to be set at the most-favored-nation rate. In addition to tariff reductions, the U.S. and China have agreed to establish a joint trade council and a separate working group focused on agricultural issues. The two sides also plan to discuss investment restrictions and initiate a dialogue on artificial intelligence.
