Ruble Weakens Marginally Against Currency Basket on Monday

The Russian ruble is down by about 0.2% against a basket of currencies on Monday.

On the interbank market, the ruble is trading at 12.60 rubles per Chinese yuan (CNY/RUB).

Against the U.S. dollar (USD/RUB), the ruble is at 84.61 rubles per dollar.

It is worth noting that the Bank of Russia (CBR) has set official exchange rates against the ruble based on consolidated data from both exchange and over-the-counter segments of the foreign exchange market since December 27, 2024. This change, introduced by CBR Regulation No. 6956-U, aims to enhance the representativeness of official rates amid growing volumes of over-the-counter transactions.

Starting from June 8, 2026, the CBR changed the methodology for calculating the official euro-to-ruble exchange rate. Instead of using direct quotes for the euro-ruble pair, the CBR now calculates the rate through a cross-currency formula using data from the European Central Bank (ECB). The new formula is EUR/RUB = USD/RUB × EUR/USD (based on ECB data).
