U.S. Negotiators Leave Kremlin After Meeting

Special envoys of the U.S. President, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, left the Kremlin after talks with Vladimir Putin. The negotiations lasted over three hours.

Whitkoff thanked Putin for the meeting, noting that the American side had been eagerly awaiting these talks. The Russian President emphasized that the situation they were discussing was complex. He stressed that during the negotiations, "all modalities of the Ukrainian settlement" were discussed, and highlighted the high level of trust in the special representatives.

In turn, Kremlin representative Yuri Ushakov stated that Whitkoff and Kushner presented a number of considerations regarding possible paths to resolving the Ukrainian conflict. Putin confirmed his readiness to engage in constructive dialogue with the U.S. on the Ukrainian settlement. Whitkoff and Kushner promised to use the assessments received from the Russian President during their contacts in Kiev.

Earlier, it was announced that Russia had decided not to attack the Ukrainian capital from midnight on September 5th. The ceasefire would last for three days. The Ukrainian side was prepared to refrain from strikes on Moscow until the end of Saturday, as well as on Sunday and Monday. Putin also mentioned during the meeting that information about the ceasefire came from Kiev through official diplomatic channels. The Ukrainian side has significantly reduced the number of attacks on Russian territory, including Moscow.
