Monthly Minimum Food Basket Cost Rises by 7.9%

An average minimum food basket for one person per month in Russia costs 8,100 rubles ($104). Since the beginning of the year, the cost of the food basket has increased by 7.9%, according to data from the Russian Union of Food Industry Workers (RuSPP), as reported by TASS.

The most expensive monthly minimum food basket is found in Chukotka at 20,600 rubles ($265) and Kamchatka Krai at 13,400 rubles ($173). The cheapest are in Mordovia at 6,400 rubles ($82) and Saratov Oblast at 6,600 rubles ($85). In Moscow, the minimum food basket costs 9,700 rubles ($125), and in St. Pyotrsburg, it is 9,400 rubles ($121).
