Russian Stock Market Closes Higher, MOEX Index Surpasses 2078 Points

Russian stock market closed July 21 with a strong rally. The MICEX Index (Moscow Exchange Index) rose by 3.9% to 2,078.78 points by the end of the main trading session.

Trading began at 2,075.21 points, with the highest point of the day reaching 2,098.7 points and the lowest at 2,014.9 points. The trading volume exceeded 102.1 billion rubles, while the total market capitalization reached 5.36 trillion rubles.

Among the most liquid stocks, the biggest gains were seen in Polus (+11.94%), ALROSA (+9.98%), Pozitiv (+6.09%), Mosenergo (+5.52%) and MTS (+4.94%).

On the losing side were BSBP (-2.07%), Rosneft (-1.80%), VKPAO (-1.08%), Ozon (-0.93%) and Lukoil (-0.73%).

Despite the strong daily increase, the MICEX Index remains in negative territory compared to longer periods: it has dropped by 11.47% since the beginning of the month and by 24.86% year-to-date.
