U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance announced that Iran has agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as part of the agreements on a temporary ceasefire. He made the statement during a visit to Hungary while addressing students, reported RBC.

According to the American politician, the agreements reached between the parties include an immediate cessation of hostilities and the restoration of free navigation through the strategically important maritime corridor, which is crucial for global energy trade. Vance explained that the reopening of the strait was one of the central conditions of the negotiation process.

The announcement comes amid a previously declared two-week mutual ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, which both sides view as a step toward further diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
