Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a temporary ceasefire in observance of the Orthodox Easter holiday.
According to the directive, the truce will be in effect from 4:00 PM on April 11 until the end of April 12, 2026. During this period, Russian armed forces are instructed to halt all combat operations across all fronts.
Corresponding instructions have been issued to Defense Minister Andrey Belousov and Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the Joint Group of Forces Valery Gerasimov. They have been tasked with ensuring compliance with the ceasefire regime while maintaining readiness for swift response to any potential incidents.
The document specifically emphasizes the need to be prepared to counter any provocations or aggressive actions by the opposing side during this period.
In Moscow, there is also an expectation that the Ukrainian side will support the initiative and follow suit, ensuring a cessation of hostilities during one of the major Christian holidays.
