### Russia to Introduce Extrajudicial Blocking of Online Tobacco Sales Starting March 2026 Starting March 1, 2026, Russia will implement a mechanism for extrajudicial blocking of internet resources offering remote sales of tobacco and nicotine products, according to [TASS](https://tass.ru/obschestvo/26267981), citing its own source. The restrictions will apply to websites and online platforms that offer cigarettes, electronic nicotine delivery systems, hookahs, and similar devices. These resources will be added to the registry of prohibited information and access to them will be restricted without recourse to the courts. The document also introduces additional obligations for internet platform owners. They will be required to monitor the appearance of information about the sale of these goods on their resources and promptly remove such materials. A similar scheme is already in place for restricting the dissemination of information on remote sales of alcoholic beverages. This approach, according to lawmakers, has proven effective, including in curbing illegal trade through marketplaces.
