The MICEX Index (ММВБ) surged by 0.8% on Thursday, trading at 2,820 points. Liquid stocks are showing mixed performance. - Sberbank (+0.8%) - Gazprom (+1%) - Lukoil (+2.2%) - Norilsk Nickel (GМК Норникель) (+1.7%) The MICEX Index (Московская биржа index) is a benchmark for the Russian stock market, calculated based on the market capitalization of freely traded shares of major and rapidly growing Russian companies. It comprises the most liquid stocks. The composite stock index of the Moscow Exchange is calculated by weighting stock prices based on market capitalization and free-float. The composition and weights are reviewed quarterly. The overview was presented by Yulia Grishchenko, a member of the listing expert council of the Moscow Exchange, Ph.D. in Economics, and head of the financial and investment management department at the Higher School of Management of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
