Airports of the Moscow aviation hub - Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky - continue to receive and dispatch aircraft despite the abnormal snowfall in Moscow and the Moscow region. The operation of the airports has not been suspended, flights are carried out taking into account safety requirements.
From midnight to 08:00 Moscow time, the four airports together serviced 135 flights for arrival and departure. All relevant services have been switched to an enhanced mode and provided with the necessary personnel and equipment to operate in severe weather conditions.
During the night, intensive cleaning of aprons, aircraft parking areas, taxiways and runways was carried out. Only during the period from 19:00 to 07:00 on January 8-9, such work was carried out 29 times.
Due to weather conditions, changes in the schedule are possible. During the past night, two aircraft were diverted to alternate airports.
