Flight tests of the experimental prototype of the light single-engine multipurpose Mi-34M1 helicopter have begun in Russia, according to the state corporation Rostech.
The Mi-34M1, developed by the subsidiary holding company "Russian Helicopters," is equipped with a domestic gas turbine power unit VK-650V, which was designed by specialists from ODK, a subsidiary of Rostech. The helicopter is also fitted with modern onboard systems made in Russia.
During the first flight, the pilots of the Mi-34M1 tested its stability and controllability, as well as the loads on the main components in horizontal flight mode with turns.
"The Mi-34M1 stands out for its high maneuverability, ease of piloting and maintenance. The main purpose of this machine is passenger transportation, monitoring, flight training, and aviation sports," said Rostech CEO Sergei Chemezov.
