All Russian airports whose operations were temporarily suspended are fully prepared for reopening, TASS reports, citing a statement by Rosaviation head Dmitry Yadro.
He stressed, however, that the final decision on resuming their operations lies within the competence of other government bodies, referring to the Ministry of Defense. Ensuring flight safety remains the top priority.
"We are always in dialogue with the main agency that makes the decision to reopen, taking into account all factors, since the only priority is ensuring flight safety. Only after a positive decision is made does Rosaviation begin the formal process of reopening the airport for regular flights of civil aircraft," Yadro explained.
Currently, temporary restrictions remain in place for several airports in southern and central Russia, including Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, and Simferopol. Earlier, Elista, Gelendzhik, and Krasnodar were removed from this list, with regular air traffic already restored there.
Rosaviation noted that the agency has managed to retain the personnel capacity in ten airports in the south and central regions of the country, where the number of employees remains at no less than 90% of the total staff as of the beginning of 2022.
