The Bank of Russia has extended the grace period for transactions involving digital rubles by one year. Until the end of 2026, companies will not be charged a fee for conducting operations with this form of payment.
After the grace period ends, the minimum fees applicable in the payment market will come into effect.
- It is worth noting that, starting from September 1, 2026, Russia will begin the gradual, large-scale introduction of the digital ruble. The corresponding law was signed by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. From that moment on, all major banks and trading companies among their clients must provide citizens and businesses with the opportunity to use digital rubles. For citizens, all operations with digital rubles will be free of charge, regardless of the grace period. All users will be able to open or close accounts on the digital ruble platform without paying a commission.
