Russia may introduce a universal identifier for legal entities. The government is working on this initiative together with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and business associations, reports RBC.
The new measure is intended to replace the three main codes assigned to companies, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and speed up information exchange between government agencies. Specifically, this refers to identifiers such as the main state registration number (OGRN), taxpayer identification number (INN), and unified registration number of insured person (ERNS).
This initiative has already been included in the draft national model of target business conditions until 2030, which is planned to be approved by the end of 2025. The concept of transition to a single identifier should be prepared by January 2027.
