Ex-Deputy Governor of Rostov Region Kushnarev Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for Bribe-Taking

The Railway District Court of Rostov-on-Don found former deputy governor of the region, Vitaly Kushnarev, guilty of bribery and illegal possession of weapons, reports Interfax.
Kushnarev was sentenced to 13 years in a strict-regime penal colony. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a fine of 475 million rubles.
According to the investigation and court findings, in 2024, Kushnarev offered assistance to the head of the company "T-Trans" in the acceptance and timely payment of works under a state contract for road maintenance in the region. In exchange for his help, he demanded 95 million rubles. The businessman reported the incident to law enforcement authorities. Kushnarev was detained when he received the first part of the money (27 million rubles).
Furthermore, according to the investigation and court, Kushnarev illegally acquired and stored a pistol and ammunition in his house.
