In Russia, a law comes into force introducing life imprisonment for inciting minors to commit sabotage.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law toughening criminal liability for sabotage. The corresponding document has been published on the legal information portal. The new regulation came into effect on the day of its official publication.

Now, in particular, incitement, recruitment, or involvement of minors in committing sabotage is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years with a fine ranging from 500 thousand to 1 million rubles, up to life imprisonment.

The law also reduces the age of criminal responsibility for certain crimes to 14 years: assistance in terrorist activities, organization of a terrorist community, sabotage, assistance in sabotage activities, undergoing training for sabotage purposes, organization of a sabotage community, and participation in it.
