Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia, Gennady Lopatin, may be appointed as the head of the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. This information was confirmed by an informed source to TASS, who stated that a relevant personnel decision has been made.

The department is responsible for ensuring the functioning of all Russian courts. The previous head of the department, Vladislav Ivanov, was relieved of his duties by the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Igor Krasnov, on November 14. Ivanov had been leading the department since May 2024, and prior to that, he was the head of the Federal Arbitration Court of the West Siberian Circuit.

The new head, 63-year-old Gennady Lopatin, is one of the most experienced senior officials in the law enforcement system. He has held the position of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation since 2011.
