Cigarette Sales in Russia Drop by 23% in a Year

Russians have reduced their cigarette purchases by 23% over the year from autumn 2024 to autumn 2025. Analysts for RIA analyzed more than 4.3 million receipts issued in stores across the country.
At the same time, sales growth is recorded in some regions of Russia. For example, in Krasnoyarsk Krai, sales increased by 5%.
Cigarette prices in Russia have increased by 13% over the past year. Thus, the average price of a pack of cigarettes has risen from 206 to 232 rubles. In addition, there is a price increase for smoking tobacco in almost all regions. On average, it was 10%, and only in Krasnodar Krai, the cost of tobacco decreased by 19%. However, this did not affect demand.
As for retail trade, positive dynamics have been observed since 2022.
The number of stores selling tobacco products has increased by almost 39.8%.
