Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade turnover between Russia and Malaysia has increased by 32%. This was reported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade following a meeting of the joint Russian-Malaysian commission on economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.
It was noted that Malaysia has increased its purchase of Russian fertilizers. In turn, Russia has increased its purchase of Malaysian cocoa butter. Malaysia has opened access for the import of Russian dairy products, agreed on a veterinary certificate for the import of chicken, and also expressed interest in supplying Russia with fresh flowers, juices, and fruits, particularly coconuts and durian.
In addition, during the meeting, prospects for increasing supplies of Russian energy resources, particularly liquefied natural gas (LNG), increasing volumes of mutual deliveries of agricultural products and food, as well as increasing tourist traffic from Russia to Malaysia were discussed.
