Average prices for used and new cars set historical records

In Russia, new historical records for prices of used and new cars were set in October, according to Autostat. The average weighted price of a used car reached 1.23 million rubles in October, which is 2.5% higher than the previous month and 3% higher than October of the previous year. The average weighted price of a new passenger car increased by 2.2% over the month to 3.43 million rubles. Year-on-year growth was 8%. Market experts attribute this trend to a frenzy caused by the anticipation of an increase in the recycling fee. Additionally, demand was driven by reduced discounts, a shortage of some models, and an increase in the share of sales of expensive cars. Experts believe that car prices will rise by another 3-4% by the end of the year.
