Rospotrebnadzor has prepared a draft order containing a list of grounds for banning the retail sale of biologically active additives (dietary supplements), including via the Internet. The document proposed for public discussion is published on the portal regulation.gov.ru .
According to the draft order, the trade in dietary supplements should be stopped if they contain prohibited substances; there is no information about the manufacturer; there is no state registration; they are sold under the guise of food additives; if they contain "regulated substances in quantities that do not correspond to the values established in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation."
This measure is designed to protect the market from low-quality products. It is proposed that the new rule will enter into force on March 1, 2026.
- Earlier, the State Duma passed a law (which entered into force on September 1) allowing doctors to officially prescribe dietary supplements to patients that meet the established criteria for "effectiveness and safety." We are talking about dietary supplements in which the active ingredients are included in the clinical recommendations of the Ministry of Health, and the positive effects on health are confirmed by the conducted tests.
