In Russia, after the introduction of the labeling system and the launch of the "permissive regime" at the cash registers in retail stores, the number of products sold with expiration dates decreased 120 times. These figures were announced by the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

- Our powers of digital labeling supervision have become an element of control in the field of consumer protection. And we are using this tool more and more actively. To date, cash registers have already blocked more than 2.3 billion units of products that did not meet the mandatory requirements. That is, the consumer does not receive this product, he does not have to complain later," she said.

  • The "permissive regime" at the cash desks began operating in 2024. The program blocks the sale of products after their expiration date.
