The State Duma has banned advertising on social networks banned in Russia.

According to them, it is prohibited to place advertisements on information resources that are prohibited or considered undesirable in the Russian Federation. A similar ban on advertising already applies to the resources of foreign agents.

"Despite the fact that a number of social networks have been blocked in Russia, whose owners are openly pursuing an unfriendly policy towards our country, spreading deliberately false information and values alien to us, citizens and companies continue to use them to advertise their goods and services. Sometimes, without even thinking, they transfer money to those who intentionally harm our country," the press service of the State Duma quotes the words of Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

With this decision, the State Duma "blocked one of the sources of income&"owners of prohibited information resources."

The law will enter into force on September 1, 2025.
