The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia predicts a decrease in potato prices from July 2025. This will happen due to the early harvest in the country and an increase in imports from Egypt and Uzbekistan.

According to Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut, the potato market situation is stable: over the past 10 years, potato price growth has lagged significantly behind general and food inflation. The only jump occurred in early 2025, due to the end of the season and the switch to imported products.

Potato harvest in the amount of 7.5-8 million tons is needed to maintain stable prices. Further price dynamics will depend on weather conditions, as potatoes are stored for 8-9 months, after which the new harvest season begins.

Let us remind you that by the end of 2024, potatoes became the most expensive product, their price increased by 92%. It happened due to the reduction in the number of private farms. This opinion was voiced by Alexey Krasilnikov, Executive Director of the Union of Potato and Vegetable Market Participants.
