The signing ceremony of the strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Venezuela took place at the Grand Kremlin Palace.Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed the document. Our country has signed similar agreements only with Iran and the DPRK.
The contract covers a wide range of areas. Russia and Venezuela will work together on security issues, counter terrorism, extremism, falsification of history and glorification of Nazism. Special attention is paid to economic cooperation in such areas as energy, transport, mining and communications.
In addition, the parties agreed to develop military-technical cooperation to strengthen defense capabilities. The document highlights the importance of combating the rewriting of history and the distortion of the outcome of the Second World War.
According to Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the agreement is focused on the long term. It creates the basis for further equal and trust-based cooperation between the countries.
