The United States continues the negotiation process with Russia and Ukraine and calls on the parties, ideally, for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. This was written by the American President Donald Trump on the Truth social network.
"I hope that an acceptable cease-fire will be observed, and both countries will be responsible for upholding the sanctity of these direct negotiations. If the ceasefire is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose additional sanctions. Thousands of young soldiers are dying every week, and everyone should want this to stop. As president, I will remain committed to ensuring peace between Russia and Ukraine together with the Europeans, and it will be a lasting peace. This ceasefire must eventually build towards a peace agreement. All this can be done very quickly, and I will be available at any time if my services are needed," Trump stressed.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a three-day ceasefire in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. A temporary ceasefire has been in place since midnight on May 7, lasting 72 hours. According to the Ministry of Defense, Ukraine does not comply with the proposed conditions.
