Ex-Caspiysk Mayor Gontsov Charged with Taking Bribe in Form of Five Apartments

Authorities in Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation against Boris Gontsov, the former mayor of Kaspiysk, on charges of receiving a bribe in an especially large amount, according to a statement from the regional Investigative Committee.

Investigators allege that in April-May 2023, Gontsov, with the assistance of the head of the municipal control department of the city administration, received a bribe from the head of a commercial organization in exchange for facilitating the issuance of a permit for the commissioning of a multi-apartment residential building, which was completed in violation of regulatory and design documentation requirements.

For this, Gontsov received five apartments with a total value exceeding 18 million rubles. To conceal the fact of receiving the bribe, the real estate was registered in the names of trusted individuals.

Earlier, criminal cases were also initiated against the head of the municipal control department of the city administration and the head of the commercial organization.
