Authorities in Novosibirsk Oblast have advised companies not involved in critical infrastructure to switch their employees to remote work, according to a government decree published online.

The region has declared a heightened state of readiness due to a fuel shortage. The move to remote work is aimed at reducing gasoline consumption.

In addition to businesses, regional government bodies have been instructed to conserve fuel. Official vehicles are to be used only for urgent matters, and officials are encouraged to use public transportation. Residents of the region have also been asked to limit personal car travel. If a trip is necessary, authorities recommend stocking up on fuel for both the journey there and back.
