At the St. Pyotrsburg International Economic Forum, a ceremony was held to hand over certificates for two key projects in Russian civil aviation manufacturing. Rosaviatsiya issued approval documents for the PD-8 aircraft engine, developed by the United Engine Corporation for the domestically produced version of the Superjet-100 aircraft, as well as for the Il-114-300 regional turboprop aircraft, created by companies of the United Aircraft Corporation.
Simultaneously, the first contract was signed for the delivery of three Il-114-300 aircraft to the 2nd Arkhangelsk United Aviation Squadron (a regional aviation unit in Russia). The agreement marked one of the first commercial orders for the new regional airliner following the completion of certification procedures.
Speaking at the ceremony, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov noted that the Il-114-300 is a deeply modernized aircraft equipped with new Russian-made TV7-117ST-01 engines, modern onboard equipment, and a passenger cabin for 66 seats.
He added that in the near future, a fully domestically produced Superjet-100 will also be ready for commercial operation, equipped exclusively with Russian systems, components, and power units.
Manturov emphasized that the implementation of these projects demonstrates the ability of the domestic industry to independently develop and bring to serial production high-tech aviation equipment through the entire cycle. He noted that the creation of similar products in global practice often takes about 12 years, while Russian companies managed to go from development to the completion of certification tests approximately twice as fast.
