International partners in the International Space Station (ISS) program have decided to extend the operational life of the orbital complex until 2030, according to a report by the Russian space corporation Energia, as cited by TASS.
The document specifies that the Russian side had previously established its own timeline for participation in the project: the Russian government approved the continuation of crewed operations in the Russian segment of the ISS until 2028 in 2023.
Roscosmos, in turn, is responsible for coordinating work on the Russian segment of the ISS, as well as providing transportation support for missions using crewed Soyuz MS spacecraft and cargo Progress MS ships, which regularly deliver crews and supplies to orbit and ensure their return to Earth.
Earlier, it was reported that Roscosmos is considering synchronizing the end of ISS operations with the deployment of a new Russian Orbital Station. According to current plans, the first module of the new station could be launched into orbit in 2028, ensuring a smooth transition between programs.
