### Russian Air Defense Intercepts Massive Drone Attack Russian air defense systems intercepted and neutralized a massive drone attack between 10:00 PM on May 16 and 7:00 AM on May 17, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. A total of 556 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted and destroyed during the night. The drones were detected over several Russian regions, including Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Kaluga, Oryol, Voronezh, Tula, Smolensk, Lipetsk, Tver, Rostov, and Pskov Oblasts. Additionally, attacks were reported in the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow region, and the Republic of Crimea (a disputed territory claimed by both Russia and Ukraine). Russian air defense also engaged and eliminated targets over the Black Sea and Azov Sea. Emergency and response services are currently operating at the sites where the drones crashed.
