E-tickets for Electric Trains to be Introduced by 2035

Russia plans to ensure full electronic ticketing for commuter trains by 2035, according to a government concept for the development of suburban passenger rail transport.

Under the plan, digital services will cover all stages of ticketing. It is expected that at least half of the tickets will be purchased online through a unified transport document, which will combine different types of transportation.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that the introduction of modern technologies and digital solutions is seen as a key direction for industry modernization. He noted that expanding electronic ticketing options will reduce the burden on ticket offices and terminals, as well as improve passenger convenience.

Additionally, authorities aim to integrate various modes of transport into a single system, which is expected to simplify trip planning and enhance user comfort.
