### Cash Circulation in Russia Drops by 3.4% in 2025
Cash circulation in Russia amounted to 125.7 trillion rubles in 2025, marking a 3.4% decrease compared to the previous year, according to the Central Bank of Russia (CBR).
Experts attribute the decline in cash circulation to the growing popularity of cashless payments. In 2025, banks received 61.2 trillion rubles and disbursed 64.5 trillion rubles to customers.
The total amount spent on goods and services in cash was 6.7 trillion rubles, a 16% drop from 2024. Meanwhile, the inflow of cash into individual accounts decreased by 21%, reaching 11.7 trillion rubles. The volume of cash withdrawals and deposits through ATMs remained almost unchanged at 76.2 trillion rubles, accounting for 60% of the total cash circulation.
The regions with the highest cash usage were Moscow and the Moscow region (MO), St. Petersburg, and the Krasnodar Territory.
