Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Tehran intends to refrain from striking neighboring Middle Eastern countries, provided no military threat emanates from their territories, according to TASS.
He stated that the Interim Guidance Council of the country had made this decision, which entails abstaining from missile attacks and other military actions against neighboring countries, on the condition that they are not used to attack Iran.
Pezeshkian also publicly apologized to neighboring countries in the region for previous incidents.
"I apologize to our neighbors. Yesterday, the Interim Guidance Council decided: Iran will not strike neighboring countries or launch missiles unless an attack is launched from their territory," Iranian state media quoted the president as saying.
