The Russian Armed Forces General Staff announced that the deployment of conscripts will continue according to the previous schedule – twice a year. This clarification was provided by Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsymlyansky, deputy head of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Administration of the General Staff.

Despite the introduction of a year-round conscription law, the actual timelines for sending new recruits to military units remain unchanged. As before, conscripts will be deployed in two periods: from April 1 to July 15 and from October 1 to December 31.

Tsymlyansky explained that recruitment activities now take place throughout the year – from January 1 to December 31. This includes medical examinations, professional psychological selection, and work of recruitment commissions.

However, exceptions apply to certain categories of citizens. Specifically, residents of remote northern regions (Far North) and equivalent territories, as well as educational institution teachers, will be deployed later – from May 1 to July 15.

The General Staff emphasized that the duration of conscript service remains unchanged at 12 months. The new regulations, which came into effect on January 1, 2026, affect only the procedure for conducting recruitment activities, not the duration of service or the periods for sending recruits to military units.
