Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers have detained another suspect involved in the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev. Law enforcement officials have arrested Pavel Vasin, the son of previously detained Viktor Vasin, who assisted criminals in monitoring Russian servicemen. This information was released by the FSB press service.

According to law enforcement officials, Pavel Vasin (born in 1981) provided his car to the previously detained SBU (Ukrainian Security Service) agent Lyubomir Korba and his father for surveillance activities and extraction of weapons from a cache. He also purchased a dashcam and a tracker that were used for surveillance and tracking the movements of military personnel. Additionally, he helped gather information for the SBU, including residential addresses and vehicle registration numbers of individuals of interest.

Pavel Vasin admitted to his involvement in surveillance of Vladimir Alekseyev as well as two other employees of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

  • Earlier reports indicated that the FSB had detained two suspects in the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev: hired assassin Lyubomir Korba (born in 1960) and his accomplice Viktor Vasin (born in 1959). Both suspects provided confessions.
