Russia is advancing its federal state information system aimed at comprehensive environmental monitoring. The system is being developed as a unified digital space for federal-level environmental data.

The project envisions the integration of 366 thematic datasets covering all key environmental parameters. These include air pollution levels, surface water and soil conditions, radiation levels, emission and discharge volumes of pollutants, waste management data, and information on measures to reduce negative environmental impacts.

The platform will be accessible to government bodies, businesses, and citizens. This will increase the transparency of environmental information and simplify decision-making processes.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, the "Ecomonitoring" system will become the core digital environment for analyzing environmental protection. In the future, it is planned to introduce tools for mathematical modeling, predictive mechanisms, and artificial intelligence technologies. This will allow not only the recording of the current state of the environment but also the advance assessment of potential risks and development scenarios.

The majority of data is expected to be uploaded to the system by 2026. Interdepartmental coordination and oversight of platform fine-tuning will be handled by the Ministry of Natural Resources (Minprir).
