Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Мишустин announced the allocation of subventions to compensate for the expenses incurred by regions during the 2025 firefighting campaign. The total funding amount will be approximately 3 billion rubles.
The funds will be directed to 11 Russian regions most affected by the disaster: the republics of Buryatia, Karelia, Komi, and Tuva, the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the Zabaykalsky and Krasnoyarsk territories, as well as the Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Rostov, and Tomsk regions.
This year, forest fires have engulfed over 4 million hectares. In several regions, due to forest fires, the state of emergency was introduced. Thousands of specialists, heavy equipment, specialized equipment, and aviation were involved in fighting the fires. These measures placed a significant financial burden on the budgets of the regions.
The funds allocated to Rosleskhoz will allow Russian regions to fully reimburse the costs associated with firefighting. The subventions will help the 11 regions ensure better preparation to prevent similar incidents in 2026.
