Consumer rights violations on marketplaces in Russia are becoming more frequent. This was discussed today at a meeting of the Public Council under Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the press service of the department, during the meeting, proposals were made to further involve marketplaces in monitoring sellers and goods, which were unanimously supported by members of the Public Council. In addition, they also advocated for the unification of the legal status of marketplaces, advertising platforms, social networks, and messengers in cases where these resources are used for business activities.
Participants also called for restrictions on the operation of intermediary companies and services within Russia whose owners do not have official representations and do not ensure compliance with the law.
They also discussed the range of age-restricted goods. The Public Council intends to develop measures to limit such goods on marketplaces.
It was also proposed to prepare a draft of regulations that would define the procedure for returning goods to buyers through marketplaces, including pick-up points.
