From September 1 to September 15, sea shipments of petroleum products from Russia decreased by 18% below the same period in 2024, to 3.3 million tons. This is 16% lower than the average in July. This is reported by "Kommersant".

Unplanned repairs at refineries and transport infrastructure led to a decrease in sea exports of petroleum products from Russian ports. This, in turn, affected freight rates, which have been declining for the sixth week in a row. Since mid-August, the cost of transportation has dropped by 18-20%.

Since the beginning of September, refining volumes have also decreased, falling below 5 million bpd for the first time since April 2022.
