Russian authorities have launched a process to introduce a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens. Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, reports TASS.
According to him, the work is being carried out on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin as a mirror measure to the relevant decision of the Chinese authorities. He recalled the task set by 2030 to increase the flow of foreign tourists to Russia to 16 million per year. "Taking into account all the decisions that are being made now and the promotion work that we are currently doing, we have already set a goal of 5.7 million Chinese tourists by 2030. This will be about 35% of the total inbound tourist flow of the Russian Federation by 2030," Kondratiev stressed.
