From January to June 2025, the number of tourists traveling in Russia increased by 7% compared to the same period last year. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
According to him, from the beginning of the year to June, Russians made 41.4 million trips within the country. This is 6.9% more than in the same period of 2024.
The most popular destinations were Moscow (6 million tourists), Krasnodar Krai (4.4 million) and St. Petersburg (3.3 million). The top five also included the Moscow Region (2.7 million), the Republic of Tatarstan (1.4 million) and the Republic of Crimea (1.1 million).
Chernyshenko noted that the regions that are actively developing tourist infrastructure and offering unique routes have shown the greatest growth.
The Republic of Kalmykia became the fastest growing region, where the number of trips increased by 81.7%. The Republic of Adygea (+79.1%), the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (+75.6%), the Tver Region (+58.8%), the Jewish Autonomous Region (+48%) and the Ulyanovsk Region (+44.8%) also showed significant growth.
Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development, emphasized that not only traditional tourist centers, but also lesser-known destinations are gaining popularity. This indicates that efforts to diversify the market are bearing fruit. For example, the tourist flow increased by 14.5% in the Siberian Federal District, by 9% in the North-West, and by 7.3% in the Far East.;
