In the summer of this year, Russians began to travel abroad more often. According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), the number of travelers increased by about 20% compared to last year.

Abkhazia and Turkey are the leaders among popular destinations. Ilya Umansky, president of the PCT, announced this at a press conference in TASS.

The demand structure has changed over the year. Abkhazia took the first place among foreign destinations, overtaking Turkey. The expert explained this by the resumption of flights to Abkhazia after a 30-year hiatus, which caused increased interest in this place.

Egypt is in second place. Despite the heat, demand for this area has grown by more than 40%. The United Arab Emirates also entered the top 5.

In addition, Russians choose Maldives, Tunisia, Malaysia and Venezuela for their holidays. Venezuela is especially popular this year. After the resumption of flights to Margarita Island, interest in this destination has increased significantly.
