They discussed initiatives for a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, including plans to resume direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul on June 2. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry following a telephone conversation between the parties.

"Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov and Marco Rubio also exchanged views on various initiatives related to the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, including plans to resume direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul on June 2 this year," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
