On November 23, the Government of the Russian Federation approved a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap of precious metals. It will be valid from December 1 to May 31. It is reported that this decision will increase the workload of Russian refining enterprises.

According to the document, for the duration of the restrictions, they will not be exported from Russia:

  • waste and scrap of precious metals,
  • waste and scrap of metals clad with precious metals,
  • other waste and scrap containing precious metal or precious metal compounds,
  • waste and scrap of electrical and electronic products used mainly for the extraction of precious metals, which are important for the domestic market of the country.
Note that the ban will not apply to the export of cathode antimony in ingots, as well as samples taken from shipments of scrap and waste of precious metals exported by refining organizations. At the same time, the mass of one sample should not exceed 500 g in one consignment, regardless of the number of such batches under a foreign trade contract.
